Inside this sandbox vm, I want to spin up several vms in order to test Ansible Playbooks with Kitchen CI & Vagrant, thus I installed VirtualBox by downloading it from the following link: Īfter the installation I executed the ansible-test]# VBoxManage -version It correctly spins up a VM (with CentOS7 running on it) on which I can access to. In case you break something in the installation, it will become super easy to revert to the default setup without going through the installation all over again.I created a sandbox VM with VirtualBox on my macOS. You can create a snapshot with VirtualBox too. Go ahead and begin playing around with the setup. That’s it! You now have a fully functional CentOS installation on your Linux computer ready to be used.

For installing additional software select from the left side and click on “Done”. Now choose “Software selection” and choose your preferred option.Once the virtual machine starts up, you will be prompted to choose the language and click on continue. Finally, click on the Start Button to start your Virtual Machine. Now go to the System tab and under Boot Order untick the Floppy option.Under Controller click on the optical disk icon to add a new disk image and choose the CentOS iso file. Choose the virtual machine you just created and click on the Settings (gear) icon. Now we need to give the iso or img file we earlier downloaded.(We will go with the default settings here). Choose the type of file to use for the new virtual hard disk.(If you want to use an existing hard disk file choose that instead).Ĭreate A Hard Disk For The Virtual Machine Here, allocate the memory you would like to have for the virtual machine (We are going with 2048MB).Under type choose “Other Linux (64 bit)”.

Now give a suitable title to your machine.Click on the “New” button to create a new machine. Now we have to set up VirtualBox so that we can run CentOS. Select your desired mirror link to download the file to your machine. Now, we will need the img file of CentOS to install it on our Virtual Machine.
